Couter Attacks At Thirty by Won pyung-Sohn
Book Overview
Jihye is an ordinary woman in her thirties whose life has been defined by just getting by. Working as an administrative employee at a corporate Academy, she quietly tolerates the everyday absurdities and politics of office life—never daring to stand out or make waves—until a new intern, Gyuok Lee, arrives.
Gyuok is bold, irreverent, and determined to shake things up. Inspired by his rebellious spirit, Jihye and a small group of colleagues begin engaging in minor acts of protest—from spraying graffiti to throwing eggs and penning anonymous exposés—against the people and structures they feel have wronged them. What starts as petty retaliation gradually transforms into something deeper: a journey of self-empowerment, self-worth, and unexpected friendship.
Although their “counterattacks” are small, often humorous, and not intended to spark grand revolution, they help the characters confront their dissatisfaction with life and, in doing so, uncover the strength they never knew they had. By the end, Counterattacks at Thirty reveals that even modest acts of defiance—when combined with unity and courage—can change how we see ourselves and our place in the world.
